Spartacus

Spartacus is a brave and wise leader that lives in the time of the Roman Empire. Spartacus starts out as a slave working in a labor camp who is then moves to a school for gladiatorial training. One day, Spartacus escapes from the school with his fellow slaves. Spartacus’s main goal in life is to prevent slavery. During his lifetime, Spartacus makes many choices. Many times, his choices determine if someone will die or not.
The setting of one of Spartacus’s choices takes place after he reaches the sea. In Spartacus’s own tent, he meets with Tigranes, a Cicillian pirate that informs Spartacus of a problem. The slaves are all outside and rejoicing because they finally make it to the sea, where they can finally escape. The slaves are only 1 day from escaping across the ocean. It is at this time, that their dream of being free shatters.
The slave leader presents a tough deal. The Roman army is paying the Cicillian pirates large sums of tribute so that Spartacus’s people can not escape. With the slaves stuck at the sea, the Roman army is about to corner them. Tigranes offers a deal to Spartacus. Tigranes will smuggle Spartacus, his family, and his friends out of Italy for a small fee. If Spartacus leaves the slaves, then he is leaving them for the Roman army to crush. However, if Spartacus stays, then he will be killed along with his fellow slaves. The decision proves to be difficult for Spartacus.                 The answer is very clear. Spartacus knows that if he gets the slaves into this war, then will get them out of it or die trying. Spartacus is also aware that even if he the Roman army defeats him, his journey will make an impact towards freedom for the slaves. Therefore, Spartacus decides to stay and fight the Romans. Spartacus yells for the pirate to get out and calls a meeting to inform his people of the incoming threat.
In my opinion, I believe that Spartacus’s decision is a good one. I agree because even if he fails to win, at least his story will be told for many generations to come, and eventually cause the freedom of slaves. If I was in his place, I would have done the same thing. His decision is important because if he doesn’t stay, then he is going to be treated as a coward instead of a hero. The moral issue is the problems with human slavery. His motives have been successful in the present world where slavery is not allowed.
