Spartacus
Spartacus is a brave, rebellious,
and strong man. Spartacus’s goal is to escape Italy
and become a free man. On his way to the coastal shore
of Italy
he frees other slaves. He
persuades them to join him on his way of escaping. The issue of the
movie is
that, Spartacus makes a deal, with Tigranes, the pirate, that if they
pay in
gold the pirate would provide them with ships to escape. Then later
during the
movie the pirate then tells Spartacus that the pirate ships
wouldn’t be coming
because the roman general Crassus had pay them to not pick up the
slaves.
This issue takes place on the
coastal shore
of Italy.
Spartacus’s followers’ camp on the shore at night
waiting for the pirate ships
to pick them up. The whole place is lighter up by the campfires of
celebration.
Peasants are dancing for joy because they think that they have made it
out of Italy.
People are dancing around the campfire with joy. Then Spartacus
receives bad
news in the night.
Spartacus doesn’t know which choice
he should make. One choice Spartacus can make is to leave his entire
group of
follower and set sail with Tigranes to escape Italy.
Another choice is to stay with the peasants and fight the Romans till
the
death. These decisions are difficult because Spartacus can’t
afford to leave
all his followers behind or die with them.
Spartacus makes the decision of
staying with his peasant followers and fighting with them. Sparatcus
makes this
decision because he promises them that they would escape from Italy.
Since he hasn’t succeeded this task he should stay with them
and fight the
Roman army.
This was a bad idea because
Spartacus is captured at the end of the battle. So this scene in the
movie is a
very hard and difficult choice to make. This scene also shows that he
is not
only responsible, but loyal too. It’s saving himself vs.
saving others.
