Bhutan Education

In Bhutan, education is not suitable because of a lack of money for schools.  There are several reasons why Bhutan has a bad education. For most children it is very hard to attend school. Also if Bhutan had a better education system they would most likely have a much better economy.  Third UNICEF is currently helping them a lot to build more school and hire more teachers.  That is why Bhutan doesn’t have a very good education system.

The first reason why Bhutan has a bad education is because it is very hard for most children to attend school.  One of the reasons why it is hard for children to attend school is that some families live a 6 hour walk away from the closest school.  Also the children have family jobs that have a higher priority then school.  About 82% of males go to primary school but only about 7% of them go to high school.  About 62% of females go to primary school but only about 2% of them go to high school. Finally the health is not very good in Bhutan so most children have an illness every day.  I think they should do something about the sickness because kids shouldn’t miss school a lot because of illness.

If Bhutan had a better education they would have a way better economy and government. They would have a better economy and government because not very many people no how to read.  The income per person per year is $860.  Not enough money is being contributed to schools in Bhutan.  If education was better in Bhutan the economy and government was.  I think that the government should put a lot more money into schools because if they did that they would have a lot better government and economy.

Even though education in Bhutan is not good they are improving greatly. One of the main ways they are improving is with the help of UNICEF. Another way they are improving is that the government is paying more money for schools. Also UNICEF is helping them hire more teachers because of the lack of teachers and schools.  UNICEF has helped them build over 300 hundred more schools.  This is a great success for Bhutan because they have not had a great education for along time.

Overall Bhutan is making improvements for their bad education.  UNICEF has been a major help to Bhutan.  They still need to fix their illness issue so people can go to school more.  If UNICEF keeps helping hire teachers it will lead to more people knowing how to read.  Then that will lead to a stronger centralized government.  Hopefully by 2010 Bhutan will have a strong education.
